Located in southern Switzerland near the Italian border, Lugano is a beautiful city in the Canton of Ticino, the country’s Italian-speaking region. It was here that we experienced our first real encounter with Italian-speaking Swiss culture, which completely changed our perception of Switzerland. Until then, we had mainly associated the country with German and French-speaking regions. Visiting Lugano opened our eyes to another side of Switzerland — one filled with Mediterranean charm, vibrant Italian culture, and a warm atmosphere that we instantly fell in love with.
