Dreaming of Working at the German Parliament?

📢 Here’s Your Chance — and It’s Real

So you’re under 30, have a university degree, and can speak some solid German — but maybe you’re feeling like your life is in a bit of a standstill. Maybe you’re job hunting. Maybe you’ve got big dreams but no idea how to make them happen. What if your next big move wasn’t in your hometown… but in Berlin, at the actual German Parliament?

Yeah, you read that right.

Through the International Parliamentary Scholarship (IPS), you could be working side by side with real German politicians, soaking up everything there is to know about how democracy works — all while living in one of Europe’s most exciting cities.

🏛️ What’s the IPS?

The IPS is a five-month program (from 1 March to 31 July each year) that brings together 120 young grads from 50 countries — including South Africa and Namibia — to work inside the German Bundestag (their Parliament).

You’ll spend three months working directly with a Member of Parliament, helping with speeches, attending committee meetings, writing reports, and learning the behind-the-scenes of how big political decisions get made. You’ll also study at Berlin’s top universities and take part in seminars about politics, culture, and global issues.

This isn’t just a job or an internship — it’s a life-changing experience.

💶 What Do You Get?

  • €700/month stipend (yep, they pay you)
  • Free accommodation in Berlin
  • Health insurance fully covered
  • Flight costs paid — they fly you to and from Berlin
  • Enrolled as a student at Humboldt University (plus optional classes at two others)

VIP-level access to Germany’s political world

And you don’t even need to be a politics student. They’re looking for motivated young people who want to help shape the future of their country — and learn how it’s done in one of the world’s most respected democracies.

🌍 Why This Matters

The IPS is about more than just Germany. It’s about building a new generation of leaders who understand the power of democracy, diversity, and international collaboration. You’ll make global friends, open up new career doors, and return with ideas, confidence, and connections that could change your future — and your community’s.

📝 Who Can Apply?

If this sounds exciting, here’s what you need:

✅ South African or Namibian citizenship (dual nationality is okay)

✅ A university degree (any field)

✅ Very good German language skills

✅ Be under 30 on March 1 of the program year

✅ Be passionate, open-minded, and ready to make a difference

🧠 How Are You Chosen?

An independent panel — including reps from the German Parliament and Berlin universities — selects candidates based on their academic background, communication skills, passion for politics, and potential to be changemakers.

So if you’re driven, curious, and want to experience something BIG — this could be your moment.
